Here is some news about an update to a program that enables children to write something and illustrate it. It was demonstrated at Bett.

The last issue of my newsletter, Digital Education, was kindly sponsored by 2Simple, the creators of Purple Mash, and more. I thought I’d run the advertisement on this website too. They say:

2Simple has been making powerful and creative educational software for learners and schools for over 20 years. 2Simple’s most popular program Purple Mash is a whole curricular resource, packed with tools, games, and activities, to support teachers and engage children across all subject areas.

Our other programs cover everything from software that captures the impact of children’s learning, a comprehensive PE and wellbeing platform to an interactive coding environment designed to build student and teacher confidence. Alongside a range of leaderships tools that support improvement planning. Visit 2Simple.com to find out more or take a free trial.

In the course of my correspondence with 2Simple they told me there was a new version of 2Publish coming. The new version will give users more flexibility to edit and customise templates. There will also be some improved functionality and layout to support children when using ready-made templates.

At the moment they’re working on updated user guides and a promotional video, but if you attended Bett you may have seen the new version being demonstrated. (I couldn’t so I didn’t. <sob>)

If you have a Purple Mash account you can see a demo of the new version here: Romans. And there’s a blank template here: Blank.

I’ve had a play and it’s pretty cool, so do check it out.
