Terry's 2 minute tips #1 Marking with coloured pens

April 12, 2016

I'm thinking about resurrecting Terry's 2 Minute Tips -- short videos that I originally made around 9 years ago. They seemed to be quite popular at the time, despite (or perhaps because of) the poor production quality!

Sometimes, the "tips" may not be tips at all, but issues I feel strongly about.

Anyway, here is the first one, about the practice of marking with different coloured pens. It's not a new idea, and I thought it had died a long time ago. But, like the people in Night of the Living Dead, it just will not stay down.

Anyway, here is the video. Enjoy. And if you have any feedback, I'd be pleased to hear it. Thanks.

Is The computing Curriculum Too Masculine? Revisited 16 years later!

One of the apparently insoluble problems of the age is how do you encourage more girls to take up Computing? I think a lot can be done, and have done so myself, but I wonder how far a lot of the effort fails to get to the heart of the issue, which could be the curriculum itself, the way it is taught, or a combination of the two?
