Our corrections policy UPDATED

This article was updated on 17 February 2023 in the following ways:

  1. Newsguard are reviewing this website and have drawn my attention to the fact that although I update articles or correct them when necessary, I haven’t always said how I’ve updated them or why. Therefore in the interests of honesty and integrity I’ve removed the graphic showing that this website scored full marks on Newsguard’s criteria, in case that rating is downgraded.

  2. For the same reason, I have deleted the text linking to Newsguard’s full report on this site — for now.

  3. I have drawn attention to some changes in the Corrections policy.

I’ll issue an update in due course.

The original article follows.

My policy is to always correct errors as soon as I discover them or they have been pointed out to me. However, the corrections policy wasn’t easy to find so I’ve created a dedicated page for it. Here it is:

Corrections policy

[Update: The Corrections policy has been amended to include an opening statement, a more explicit version of actions taken when a correcti0on or update is made, and a table of corrections made with links to the relevant pages. These changes have been made in the interests of transparency.]

I did this because I was contacted by Newsguard, who rated my site for accuracy and trustworthiness a few years ago. They asked me if I had a corrections policy, and if so where was it? I knew there was a problem when even I couldn’t find it! I did unearth it eventually (it’s here), but I thought it best to give it its own dedicated page.
