Would you have sex with a robot?

Can you envisage a time when human beings will have relationships with robots? You could argue that to some extent we already have a relationship with electronic things (in my case, a love-hate relationship!), but can you imagine a time when we might marry robots, or have sex with them?

We're just good friendsI read a science fiction story once in which the main character discovers to his horror that he is not human but a robot, and that he therefore doesn’t have human rights. An important exploration of robotics may be found in the works of Asimov, should you wish to look into this aspect of technology and citizenship.

In the meantime you may wish to discuss with your (older) students the issues raised in this very short video.
