Are you an insufferable bore?

Ha! I thought that might get your attention! The only reason I ask is that I actually wrote about the dangers of becoming one, back in October 2009.

In case you missed it, the article was called Being too overbearing simply does not work, and looked into why being too “helpful” can actually put people off. It’s a bit like when I walk into a shop and immediately get pounced on by a sales assistant, I usually beat a hasty retreat. If they’d have just left me alone, I might have bought something. Well, I know the analogy doesn’t quite work, but you can see what I’m driving at.

By the way, if you’re thinking that my mentioning old articles recently is a sign that the Muse has finally deserted me, I’d like to reassure you that is not the case. However, people have suggested to me that I mention older articles in case newer visitors to this website have not discovered them yet. Moreover, it does enable me to keep the site up-to-date even though I have two urgent deadlines to meet!

To see older articles without any suggestions from me, look at the list of the last 100 articles on the left-hand side of the page. Also, look in the Article Finder menu, where you’ll find various ways of looking for articles.

And don’t worry: I’ll be posting a new one soon.
